Camp Funshine 2017 celebrated in Temple
Horseback riding, a roller derby demonstration, a variety of sports, and a magic show kept 214 registered participants of Camp Funshine’s 2017 season which ran May 23-26. The camp was held at the Wilson Park Recreation Center and organized by the ARC of Bell County.
Campers enjoyed horseback riding on Thursday with the assistance of Central Counties Services’ Cindy Ratzleff and Keith Maxwell.
Camp Funshine is a four-day event held each year in Temple for the intellectually and developmentally disabled community. Campers come from all over Central Texas to participate.
Camp Funshine has been around for 50 years, starting at an SPJST Lodge in East Bell County.
The campers activities includes crafts, bocce, swimming and basketball, volleyball, tennis, and walking trails. Live music, dancing, and horseback riding also round out the campers’ schedules.
