Central Counties Services hosts 2nd annual Annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness 5K Fun Run/Walk
Runners and walkers, as well as city and county government agencies from all over Central Texas came out to support the 2nd Annual Children’s Mental Health Awareness 5K Fun Run/Walk Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Miller Park in Temple, sponsored by Central Counties Services Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services.
The public within Central Counties Services’ five-county catchment area of Bell, Milam, Lampasas, Coryell, and Hamilton was invited to participate. Service providers from within the community who serve children with mental health issues had booths and exhibits, and there were children’s activities supporting the nationwide Substance Abuse And Mental Health Services Adminstration’s (SAMHSA) Caring for Every Child’s Mental Health Campaign during Children’s Mental Health Awareness week, May 7-13, 2017, which sought to raise awareness about the importance of children’s mental health.
Event participation was free of charge. Throughout the month there were similar events nationwide to increase efforts to educate the nation about the importance of prevention and early identification of mental health challenges in children.
